Rahman wins Hearts not Oscars!

JAI HO! Bharath maa ki...jisne aisa supooth ko janam diya. Bharath ka naam roshan kiya! Sab ka dil mein bus gaya!

Who hasn’t liked the song “ Chaiyya Chaiyya” of the Bollywood movie ‘ Dil se’ in 1998? It was then a superhit song from A.R.Rahman. It stood 9th in BBC World Service top 10 songs of all time. It also fetched him the famous Filmfare Best Music Director Award. Today, it ‘s the same Rahman, famous Indian music director who has won Oscar, the most prestigious award at the international level. It is like winning an Olympic gold at the games. Rahman’s Oscar win has not only quenched the thirst for Oscars for the nation like India but also turned spotlight on Rakesh Mehra’s ‘Delhi 6’ which is also a score by musical genius.

In the early 90’s Rahman entered the arena by producing hit songs for Tamil film “Roja”. He won the National Award for Best Music Direction and won many hearts.

His first movie in Hindi was Rangeela in 1995. The Tamil Nadu distributor of Rangeela did away with the actors name altogether from the posters and replaced them with a mugshot of Rahman with the catchline.The first original score of A.R.Rahman in Hindi.

 According to some news agencies, Barbara Broccoli has approached Danny Boyle to direct the 23rd James Bond film and that A.R. Rahman would score the music in his movie. If this is true then sky is the limit for Rahaman.

Allah Rakha Rahman was born on January 6th,1967 in Chennai, Tamilnadu state of India. His birth name is A. S. Dilip Kumar. As an Indian film composer, record producer, musician and singer, he has won 13 Filmfare Awards, 4 National Film Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, 2 Academy Awards, 2 Oscar awards and 2 Grammy awards.

As Rahman worked in India's various film industries of various languages, international films and theatre, by the year 2003, in his successful career spanning over a decade, has sold more than 100 million records of his film scores and sound tracks worldwide. Also, sold over 200 million cassettes making him one of the world's all-time top selling recording artists. Rahman's name has become popular all over the world with the success of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. He not only created a very good identity in the outer world but also created a well-known image from India and its culture.
